Fashionable Tuesdays part of the ongoing “Hot Couture: Florida Jews on the Fashion Scene 1800 to Today” exhibit at the Jewish Museum of Florida is bringing the film “Retro Couture” for a special screening next Tuesday May 9th.
The 20-minute short film by Miami native Christopher Rapalo explores Miami’s history as a clothing manufacturer and it explores its future as the next fashion mecca in the world.
“Every screening of “Retro Couture” is a new journey for me,” said Rapalo. “I’m extremely blessed that the audience have been really supportive of the film.”
“Retro Couture” is Rapalo’s first documentary project and it premiere in 2016 at the Miami Fashion Film Festival where it took the Best Film “Audience Award” as well as the “Best Florida Short Film” award at the Key West Film Festival.
Following screenings in Panama, Brussels and Santiago de Chile the film also landed a Best Documentary nomination at the Mercedes-Benz Bokeh South African International Film Festival.
At the screening Chris Rapalo will be joined by Madeleine and Richard Kirsh from C.Madeleine’s vintage clothing to discuss retro fashions.
The screening will take place at 7pm on Tuesday May 9, 2017 at the Jewish Museum of South Florida-FIU located at 301 Washington Avenue in Miami Beach.
