A flight from Nigeria to Houston was diverted to Miami after a woman gave birth on the plane early Friday.
United Flight 143 had left Lagos, Nigeria Thursday night and was diverted to Miami International Airport just before 3 a.m. when the woman gave birth to a baby boy, airline officials said.
The crew assisted the woman with guidance from medical professions on the plane and on the ground, officials said.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue paramedics met the plane on the ground when it landed at 3:43 a.m. and took the mother and baby to a local hospital.
The flight continued to Houston about two hours behind schedule.
