Florida Department of Health Reports State's First Vaping-Related Death

The Florida Department of Health has confirmed that a resident has died from a lung injury related to vaping.

The fatality was confirmed in a report released Tuesday by the DOH, which said there have been 27 reported cases this year of lung injuries associated with electronic cigarette use.

Officials didn't release the identity of the person who died or say where the death occurred.

Vaping-related lung disease has sickened more than 500 people and killed more than 10 across the country. Officials are working to determine the cause of the illnesses and deaths, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has recommended that people refrain from using e-cigarette or vaping products amid their investigation.
