A jury convicted 31-year-old Romeo Sanchez on charges that included sex acts with a minor and possessing or producing child pornography.
Cape Coral Police arrested Sanchez, who was a registered sex offender, after they say he lured a 14-year-old family friend into a relationship that lasted several months and included the victim sending explicit videos of herself according to NBC affiliate WBBH-TV.
After investigators took his cell phone and notified him of their case, Sanchez reportedly got a new phone and attempted to start a relationship with a 13-year-old girl who came into a restaurant where Sanchez worked – with police saying he started in a fake social media account posing as a teen to begin communication with that victim.
Sanchez is expected to be sentenced in May, where he faces a maximum sentence of life in a federal prison.
