The emergency removal of a sign along the Florida’s Turnpike in Southwest Miami-Dade created quite the traffic nightmare for drivers Wednesday morning.

Chopper footage showed workers removing the overhead sign between Flagler Street and SW 8th Street, forcing the closure of lanes in all directions between that road and the Dolphin Expressway.

Florida Department of Traffic officials said in a press release that conditions were too unsafe to allow vehicles to continue traveling under the sign during the removal.

Shortly after 10:30 a.m., all lanes reopened.
