Jailed Venezuelan opposition leader Leopoldo Lopez is urging his supporters to continue street demonstrations – and is getting support for Florida Governor Rick Scott.
Scott is expected to attend a rally Monday in Doral demanding for the release of Lopez from jail. The former mayor was jailed in 2014 for spurring violent street protests
At least 37 people have died since unrest began early last month. Protesters are demanding early elections to remove President Nicolas Maduro and end the devastating economic crisis resulting in food and medicine shortages, and rapid inflation.
Lilian Tintori, Lopez’s wife, says her husband is alive and well despite rumors that he had fallen gravely ill while in jail. She's been thanking supporters, letting them know her husband is proud of them and wants them to keep up the protests.
