A Fort Lauderdale man is being held in jail on no bond after police said he stabbed a man he believed was having an extramarital affair with his wife.
On Tuesday afternoon, 32-year-old Ricardo Ramirez tracked down his wife and 33-year-old Christopher Nardi to a room at the Sky Motel at 1531 W. State Road 84 in Fort Lauderdale, according to police records. Once Ramirez opened the door to an upstairs motel room, he allegedly found his wife and Nardi inside. Ramirez took out a knife and lunged at Nardi who tried to run away.
Ramirez stabbed Nardi two more times before getting in his car and speeding away, Fort Lauderdale Police said. Police credit witnesses with helping them put out an alert with Ramirez's description and vehicle details. Officers found the 32-year-old at the Southland Plaza shopping center.
He tried to run away into a Winn-Dixie grocery store, where officers caught him and found three bags of cocaine on him, according to police.
Nardi was taken to Broward Health Medical Center in critical condition.
Ramirez appeared in bond court Wednesday, where he learned he will remain behind bars. He is being held at the Broward County Main Jail without bond for a charge of premeditated attempted murder, online Broward Sheriff's Office jail records showed.
He also faces charges of resisting an officer without violence and cocaine possession, with bond for those set at $5,000 and $1,000 respectively, online jail records showed. It wasn't immediately known whether Ramirez has an attorney.
