What to Know

  • MDPD officers along with agents from both Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement detained NW Miami-Dade man.
  • ICE officials would not confirm information or the man’s identity until after his first scheduled appearance before a federal judge.

Officers from several federal agencies joined with the Miami-Dade Police Department in taking a man into custody they believe is involved in a child porn investigation.

NBC 6 cameras were at the scene near NW 58th Street and 32nd Avenue early Thursday morning, where MDPD officers along with agents from both Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement detained a man who lived in a trailer behind one of the homes after a federal warrant was issued, according to Miami-Dade Police.

The man allegedly used a WiFi hotspot to download the images, with officials saying he was found in possession of what they called "disturbing" material.

The home’s owner told NBC 6 that the man rented the trailer from him about eight months ago and is originally from Nicaragua, while a woman who called herself his girlfriend said he has a young daughter.

ICE officials would not confirm that information or the man’s identity until after his first scheduled appearance before a federal judge on Friday.
