Surrogate Bonds With Baby Gorilla Rejected by Mother at Florida Zoo

A 30-year-old gorilla at a Florida zoo has become a surrogate mother to a baby gorilla whose mother hasn't shown sufficient interest in her baby.

Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens spokeswoman JJ Vitale tells the Florida Times-Union that Bulera began holding 5-month-old Gandai as soon as they were introduced on Feb. 27. She says that within minutes Bulera was "comforting her with soft vocal rumbles."

Family of Man Awarded $3.38M After Royal Caribbean Cruise Death

A federal jury says Royal Caribbean Cruises owes $3.38 million to the family of a passenger who died during an Alaskan cruise.

Jurors found Royal Caribbean to be 70 percent at fault for the approximately $34,000 in medical expenses and $4.8 million in loss of companionship and pain and suffering.

Florida Man Who Attacked McDonald's Worker Over Straw Sentenced

A Florida man who grabbed a McDonald's worker by the collar because he couldn't find a straw was sentenced to 60 days in jail.

A Pinellas County judge also ordered 40-year-old Daniel Willis Taylor to stay away from the restaurant and the workers he attacked in an incident caught on video. Taylor was credited with the 58 days in jail he already served. He also must pay a $1,000 fine.

Miami-Dade Corrections Officer Accused of Trafficking Fentanyl

A Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation officer has been arrested on drug charges after authorities say she and a man were distributing large amounts of heroin mixed with fentanyl.

Hollywood Police said an undercover operation led to the discovery that the pair was trafficking heroin within 1,000 feet of Hollywood Park Elementary School.
