Man Arrested After North Miami Beach Hit-and-Run: Police

A man has been taken into custody after allegedly crashing his vehicle into two people near a Miami high school.

According to school officials, Jarod Rose, 25, was at North Miami Beach Senior High with his mother and a teacher from the school. An argument reportedly ensued and Rose got into a car and attempted to drive off.

In the process, officials said he struck his mother, causing non-life threatening injuries. He also crashed into a teacher who was in her car. She was not injured.

Officials said Rose then drove off.

An alert was issued by Miami-Dade School Police regarding the incident.

An off-duty Miami-Dade Police officer noticed Rose's vehicle and attempted a traffic stop. He allegedly refused to stop and accelerated, striking several vehicles.

The vehicle became disabled at Northwest 167th Street and Northwest 2nd Avenue where officers were able to take Rose into custody.

He has been charged with fleeing and eluding, aggravated assault and resisting without violence.

Rose appeared in court on Tuesday, where a judge set his bond at $28,500 and appointed him a public defender.

According to court documents, Rose has separate pending cases in Broward County.
