T-Shirt Maker Arrested for Impersonating a Federal Agent

Hollywood man lied to try and get out of a traffic ticket

To Robert Pinto, claiming to be a federal agent was all about the look.

He had flashing lights in his car and a badge that said he worked for the government. He probably even had some of those "FBI" T-shirts in his jeep. There probably were some "I'm With Stupid" shirts and "Don't Tase Me Bro" shirts in the car, too.

That's because Pinto is a T-shirt maker and not a federal agent as he claimed to Hollywood police, who arrested him for impersonating a federal agent.

Like many South Florida motorists, Pinto saw lying as the best way to get out of a traffic ticket Monday.

The 45-year old almost got away with stretching the truth when cops initially pulled him over. Pinto told two officers that he worked for the U.S. General Services Administration and that he was on important business.

"I have emergency lights in my car just like yours and I use it for callouts," Pinto told the officers according to a police report.

The lie worked and Pinto got off with a warning, but the T-shirt vendor was picked up later after the cops checked deeper into his story and found out he only sold shirts.
