Hialeah Man Who Shot Wife Killed By Police

Man who shot and killed wife in restaurant killed in confrontation with police

The man who gunned down his wife at a Northwest Miami-Dade restaurant Tuesday was shot and killed by police in a confrontation with officers in Hialeah Tuesday night.

Reynaldo Cabrera Hernandez, 52, was shot by officers just before 9 p.m. outside an apartment building in the 7100 block of West 14th Court, Miami-Dade Police said Wednesday.

Hernandez was shot after some sort of confrontation with detectives, police said.

Earlier in the day, Hernandez shot 39-year-old Misley Gonzalez inside the Casa Latina Restaurant at 19541 Northwest 57th Avenue after the two had a verbal dispute, police said.

Gonzalez was pronounced dead at the scene. Hernandez fled and had been wanted for questioning.

Police said the two had a common law marriage.

A man who said he lives four doors down from the couple said he saw them leaving early Tuesday morning and nothing seemed wrong.

"He was a nice guy...always [said] hello to everybody," neighbor Sigfredo Mendoza said of Cabrera.
