A Coral Springs, Florida, man was behind bars Monday after he was accused of raping a woman he met through an online dating website, police said.
Robert William Hays, 32, was arrested late Sunday on charges of sexual battery and false imprisonment, according to a Coral Springs Police arrest report.
According to the report, Hays, known to the victim as Will Hendrickson or Will Henderson, met the woman through a dating website about a week before the alleged attack. The report didn't say which website.
On Saturday, Hays and the woman were sitting in the parking lot of Hays' apartment complex on Northwest 114th Avenue when she told him she wanted to stop dating, the report said.
Hays grabbed her purse and ran into his apartment, and when she followed him inside, he locked the door behind her, according to the report.
The woman pushed the panic button on her car keys to get the neighbors' attention, and Hays became enraged and hurt her hands, the report said.
Hays wouldn't let the woman leave or be alone and kept her purse from her, preventing her from calling 911, the report said. He then forced her into the master bedroom where he raped her, according to the report.
