A man who was caught on camera attacking and stabbing his ex-girlfriend's current boyfriend at a Davie shopping center is facing an aggravated battery charge, police said.
Richard Madruga, 34, was arrested in the July 20 incident that happened outside Painting With a Twist at 5810 South University Drive, according to a Davie Police report.
The report said Madruga's ex-girlfriend, Megan Berger, was attending a surprise birthday party at the business with current boyfriend Christopher Lowery. As Lowery was walking her into the business blindfolded for the surprise, a pickup truck driven by Madruga came around the corner driving directly at them, police said.
Madruga opened the door but Lowery pushed it closed. Lowery said Madruga had a gun in his hand but he dropped it when the door slammed, police said.
Lowery got into a scuffle with Madruga, who was armed with two screwdrivers and started to stab Lowery, police said. Madruga drove off after the fight was broken up.
Lowery received multiple scratches and stab wounds, and had to go to the emergency room where he received nine staples to close a wound in his head, the report said.
Madruga was later located and arrested before he was booked into jail. Attorney information wasn't available.

"Very dangerous, with this guy driving toward this crowd. In this case luckily the injuries were limited to one person, they were minor and nobody was killed," Davie Police Sgt. Mark Leone said.
According to the report, Berger said she and Madruga have two children in common and aren't dating but live together. Berger said she has dated Lowery on and off for the past three years but they dated steady for the past three months.
"This incident stems from this lover's triangle, it's over this one girl who he currently resides with, has children with, and she has a new boyfriend," Leone said. "During this video you also see a child was retrieved from the vehicle, this is the child that the girl and the ex have in common, I'm told they still reside together."
