Manatee Going Back Into the Wild

Rescued mammal ready for return to nature

A young manatee that was nursed back to health at the Miami Seaquarium is ready to return to its natural habitat.

According to state wildlife officials, biologists plan to release the male manatee at John D. MacArthur Beach State Park on Monday afternoon.

The manatee was rescued in February. Officials say it appeared to be thin and showed signs of cold-stress when it was found in a pond at a private golf club in North Palm Beach.
