A former teacher and basketball coach at a Florida high school turned herself in to authorities to face an accusation of having sex with a 16-year-old student.
The Volusia County Sheriff's Office said in a release 28-year-old Megan Parris was charged with unlawful sexual activity with a minor. Parris taught math and helped coach the New Smyrna Beach High School girls' basketball team.
The investigation began in March, and she was placed on paid administrative leave. Detectives say Parris had sex with the 16-year-old boy off campus.
Parris was booked into a Volusia County jail on Thursday. Her attorney, Jeff Higgins, told The Daytona Beach News-Journal he had no comment.
