Miami-Dade police are on the hunt for three suspects who tried to rob an off-duty police officer Friday morning.
The home invasion occurred around 4:05 a.m., when the trio allegedly broke into the Miami Lakes home but were rudely greeted by gun fire from the Bay Harbor Island police officer. The shots sent the would-be robbers scurrying and one of the shots may have hit a suspect, Miami-Dade police said.
Shortly after the shooting, a man reportedly was admitted to Memorial Hospital Miramar with a gunshot wound.
Police said they are investigating whether the gunshot victim was involved in the failed home invasion.
