Miami-Dade Police Arrest Suspect for 2003 Murder

Detectives from the Miami-Dade Police Department have arrested Eugenio Farinas and charged him with murder in connection with the death of Gladys Jorge in 2003.

Investigators said on July 15, 2003, officers were dispatched to a home in the 3900 block of Southwest 61st Avenue.

When they arrived, they were met by Jorge's mother and sister, who advised that she was inside the home and unresponsive. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.

Detectives determined that Jorge shared the home with Farinas, who was her boyfriend. Crime scene investigators retrieved bloody socks, underwear and a towel from the bathroom and concluded that attempts had been made to clean up the scene.

Last December, DNA evidence recovered from the items were resubmitted for advanced analysis and DNA matching Farinas was found on the socks, underwear and towel.

He was arrested and charged on Aug. 11, 2015. There's no word on whether he has an attorney.
