The FBI is investigating a threat made against law enforcement officers in Miami-Dade, officials said Friday.
Officers have been briefed and warned to be on alert during calls and Homeland Security detectives are looking into the validity of the threat, Miami-Dade Police officials said.
"We are aware of a credible threat towards law enforcement in the South Florida area. As a result, the Southeast Florida Fusion Center issued an officer safety bulletin about the threat this morning," the FBI said in a statement. "Given this matter is an ongoing investigation, no further information is available."
Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez has been briefed on the matter, his office confirmed.
No other information was immediately known.
