Suspects Caught After Fleeing on Boat in Miami

Authorities say two men believed to have been burglarizing a Miami restaurant using a boat were in custody after trying to flee Wednesday afternoon.

Officers responded to the closed restaurant at 620 Northeast 78th Street after receiving a 911 call about suspicious activity.

The officers saw the two men putting furniture and a fridge on the boat, and when the suspects saw the officers, they fled in the boat, officials said.

Witnesses said they saw the men throwing items overboard before they docked the boat in the Bel Meade community and tried to flee on foot.

Police said the suspects were taken into custody. No other information was immediately known.
