Morning Shooting Leaves One Man Dead in North Miami Beach

North Miami Beach Police are investigating a shooting early Tuesday morning that left one person dead.

Officers arrived at the scene near Northeast 163rd Street and 21st Avenue just after 6 a.m. after reports of shots being fired in the area.

Officials confirmed that one man, possibly in his 30s, was found dead at the scene but would not give any additional information about his identity.

Those living in the area say the victim was shot while he came to work at a nearby construction site.

North Miami Beach Police Capt. Juan Pinillos that they are investigating the incident as a robbery attempt and say the suspect ran south from the scene.

"It’s a cowardly act and I can tell you we are going to find this offender," said Pinillos.

Officials are asking anyone who may have seen the incident to call police or Miami-Dade CrimeStoppers.

"It’s important we get the public’s help on this case," said Maj. Ricahrd Rand. "A lot of people have video cameras in their cars now that face forward - for accidents. A lot of people use cell phones. Please if you have anything on your cameras, please review it."
