Murder Victim's Family Begs for Public's Help

The family of a 23-year-old man who was murdered outside his apartment Tuesday night begged the public to come forward with any help that could lead police to the two alleged shooters.

“Please do that for me, give me closure. Please help me,” said the victim’s mother, Kathy Corneal.

Corneal’s son, Cassiaus Cadet-Stuckey, 23, was shot to death outside of a Liberty Square apartment on Tuesday night. Police said two armed men approached Cadet-Stuckey and shot him multiple times. Evidence markers showed more than 50 shots were fired.

“I ran over there. I tried to get over there. I tried to get there and he was gone,” Corneal said. “He didn’t deserve that. Y’all shot my son down like a dog and he didn’t do nothing to either one of y’all.”

Corneal, and the victim’s wife, Latasha Darling-Stucky, said they don’t know why anyone would kill Cassiaus. They said Cassiaus had no enemies and much of the neighborhood cared about him. Now, they are just looking for closure and hope the community can help.

“Just please, save somebody else’s kid because you couldn’t save mine,” Corneal said. “Please. Somebody step up and do something, please.”

Police said a white, four-door Chrysler could have been involved in the shooting. If you have any information about the murder, call Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477).
