Nanny Arrested After South Florida Amber Alert Last Week Given $250,000 Bond at Hearing

A nanny arrested in Miami-Dade County after a frantic Amber Alert search for a 4-year-old Jupiter boy last week appeared before a Palm Beach County judge Wednesday.

Blanca Castro was given a $250,000 bond for a charge of kidnapping. The 57-year-old was transferred from Miami-Dade to Palm Beach early in the morning after being arrested Friday, according to NBC affiliate WPTV.

The mother of Dominic Caprio told police she left her son for an hour with Castro on Thursday afternoon inside their home. When she returned, the child and nanny were gone. Officials issued the alert and the child was eventually found and reunited with his mother almost 24 hours later.

Castro’s attorney argued that there was no evidence his client - who worked for Caprio’s grandparents for several years at their Coconut Grove home – left the home with the child, claiming the confusing came from an argument between the child’s mother and grandfather.

Castro was ordered to have no contact with any Caprio family members.
