North Miami Beach Police Officer Accused of Kicking Pregnant Woman Fired

Ambar Pacheco was fired Friday following her arrest Wednesday on an aggravated battery charge

A North Miami Beach Police officer accused of kicking a pregnant woman while off-duty has lost her badge.

Ambar Pacheco was fired Friday following her arrest Wednesday on an aggravated battery charge, police said in a statement.

"Due to Ms. Ambar Pacheco's recent off-duty actions, her employment with the City of North Miami Beach has been terminated effective immediately," Police Chief William Hernandez said in the statement.

Pacheco, 26, was arrested in the area of Espanola Way and Washington Avenue after the victim, who was eight months pregnant, said Pacheco had struck her in the stomach.

Pacheco told officers that the victim’s boyfriend had kicked her sister in the face, saying that she “saw red and beat the (expletive) out of her," later saying that she didn't know who she kicked, according to an arrest report.

Miami Beach Police spokesman Ernesto Rodriguez said the victim was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, where she delivered a healthy baby.

Pacheco had been with the department for about a year, officials said.
