Officer Hospitalized After Crash Near School in Pembroke Pines

An officer was taken to the hospital after being involved in a morning crash in Pembroke Pines.

Police tweeted the crash took place near Flanagan High School, located off the 12800 block of Taft Street, before 8 a.m. and caused road closures near Sheridan Street as a result.

Police say the school's resource officer was directing traffic when a driver struck him. The officer, who has not been identified, was taken to nearby Memorial Regional Hospital where his condition was not released as he suffered from non-life threatening injuries.

The driver remained on the scene, but officials have not said if she was ticketed. The roads near the school remained closed, but reopened just before 8:30 a.m.
