An overnight scene inside a Little Havana apartment sent one Miami Police officer to the hospital and a military veteran to jail after allegedly firing shots at officers.

Crews responded to the apartment, located near NW 2nd Street and 14th Avenue, early Thursday after a call about loud music being played. After arriving, shots were fired from inside the apartment and one officer suffered a dislocated shoulder while running for cover according to Public Information Officer Christopher Bess.

SWAT teams and a hostage negotiator were called to the scene after police learned a second person was inside. The negotiator was able to get the shooter, described as a military veteran, to release a female who had been inside before eventually giving up and coming out of the apartment as well, where he was arrested.

Neighbors said they heard around seven shots being fired before police arrived, though officers have not confirmed that information.

Officials say neither the women nor the shooter suffered injuries and the police officer was expected to be okay after being treated for their injury.
