Expect Delays on Palmetto Expressway This Week Due to Construction Ahead of Express Lanes Launch

Drivers will experience closures on Palmetto Expressway this week - but the delays and closures should be for a good reasons with the opening of new express lanes in the coming weeks.

Starting on Monday, two southbound inside lanes at SR-826 will be closed, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The following morning, on I-75 southbound, the northbound exit to the Palmetto will close from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. according to Florida Department of Transportation.

Drivers can take southbound SR-826 or exit on NW 103th Street to West 49th Street, eastbound. These lanes will be reopened on Tuesday.

The northbound entrance ramp from Okeechobee Road on the Palmetto will be closed on Tuesday, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.. The northbound entrance from NW 103th Street and West 49th Street will also be closed. Drivers may turn north on West 20th Avenue or turn east on NW 122th Street and West 68th street.

These closures are due to construction of new express lane tolls. This project is anticipated to debut this month with the approximate cost of the express lane construction is approximately $262 million.
