The person who was found inside a car submerged in an El Portal canal was identified by family members as a Miami Shores man who had been missing for days.
Divers responded at around 1:45 p.m to the 500 block of NW 87th Street after reports of a car inside a canal.
Investigators found a sole person inside, who family members later identified as 82-year-old Mernier Sainvil. Sainvil had been missing since Friday.
The Miami-Dade Police Department is investigating.
