Man Shot Multiple Times During Robbery in SW Miami-Dade: Police

Miami-Dade Police are searching for a person they say opened fire on a man during a robbery Thursday morning before fleeing the scene.

Officers arrived to find a man on a bus bench near the intersection of Southwest 8th Street and 71st Avenue shortly after 7 a.m.

The victim was shot twice and rushed to Kendall Regional Medical Center in stable condition. Police say the bullets missed the victim's heart by inches.

Police say the victim knew his attacker and described the weapon used as a "small gun."

The victim's friends, who spoke to reporters on scene, said his name is William and that he lives in the area working as a tire repairman at a gas station on Southwest 69th Avenue and 8th Street. They described him as a good person and a hard worker.

The victim's name and age has not been officially released by police.

Police are believed to be looking for a white male who was wearing a dark mask who targeted the victim for cash.
