Sweetwater Police are looking for a suspected thief who allegedly stole a woman’s purse at Dolphin Mall this weekend – taking a gun that was inside.

Several crews from multiple agencies responded to the scene Sunday night outside the movie theater and near the Saks Fifth Avenue outlet at the mall located off NW 114th Avenue.

Police say they were able to recover the purse, but have not found the gun. Officials are reviewing surveillance cameras to find the person of interest, who they say is a black male between 5’7” and 5’10” and was wearing a white beanie cap.

Officials say the initial call to police came in as a possible armed robbery, but that has not been confirmed. Anyone with information is asked to call Sweetwater Police or Miami-Dade CrimeStoppers.
