Proposed Orlando Coaster Could Be World's Tallest

A proposed roller coaster in the International Drive area of Orlando could break a world record.

The Orlando Sentinel reports the roller coaster, which is planned to be built in the proposed Skyplex Orlando entertainment complex, could be the world's tallest at 501 feet.

In a statement Tuesday, the project's developer Joshua Wallack said the coaster would also include a record 524-foot vertical lift, the world's tallest inversion and the world's steepest drop.

Wallack said the roller coaster would be appropriate for Orlando, which he calls ``the tourism capital of the world.''

The development calls for a 350-room hotel, 333,000 square feet of entertainment space, more than 95,000 square feet of general retail and nearly 40,000 square feet of restaurant space. The development would cost an estimated $500 million.
