“Saggy Pants Robber” Gets Too Big for His Britches

Police finally capture—and shoot—the men behind the ring of 7-Eleven and other convenience store robberies.

He’s been dubbed the “saggy pants robber.” But he’ll be trading in his droopy drawers for an orange jumpsuit soon.

The man robbing convenience stores across Palm Beach and Broward counties and his driver are finally in police custody after attempting to rob a Circle K on Hallandale Beach Boulevard at 3:30 Saturday morning.

Police showed up to the robbery-in-progress when a tip from Crime Stoppers linked the robber to a burgundy Infiniti. Investigators had been tailing the car since late Friday. When the driver saw police, he attempted to drive over them, causing police to fire shots that wounded both the “saggy pants robber” and the getaway driver.

The “saggy pants robber” was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood to be treated for his injury. Earlier this morning, authorities caught the getaway driver after he checked into Miami-Dade Hospital for a bullet wound.

Jim Leljedal, a spokesman for the Broward Sheriff's Office, said, "Both men face numerous charges when they are released from the hospitals. Per standard procedure, the four BSO detectives who fired at the suspects have been placed on administrative leave pending an internal affairs investigation."

The names of the suspects are being withheld until after they are charged.
