A Catholic school teacher took one last wild ride to Disney World with her teen lover, but was busted faster than a drop on Space Mountain when the two returned.
Maria Guzman Hernandez, 32, a teacher at Hialeah's Our Lady of Charity, admitted to having sex with her 15-year-old student, but not before she took him on a weekend jaunt to Disney World, according to police.
As police were seeking Hernandez to question her about the affair with the eighth-grader, she was off on an amusement park adventure with the boy.
Though the boy's mother knew and approved of the relationship, Hernandez was charged with sexual battery on a child. The mother is also under investigation for allowing the affair to continue.
According to the police report, the two had a "sexual relationship" that lasted several months and they had been "sexually active" since March. The two had several trysts that took place at the apartment the boy shared with his mother.
"She apparently didn't find anything wrong with it, thought that the teacher was a nice enough person and a good influence on her son," Hialeah police spokesman Detective Carl Zogby told the Miami Herald.
Hernandez, who has two children of her own at Our Lady of Charity, was asked to resign. She is estranged from her husband.
Hernandez was released on $10,000 bail Sunday afternoon. The boy is still in the custody of his mother, but charges for the mom, who migrated to South Florida from Cuba, could be coming.
"Parents can not allow their children to have [sexual] relationships with adults. That's just not acceptable in the United States," Colyer said. "That will not be acceptable under any circumstances."
