The Miami Gardens Police Department has released a sketch of the man suspected of holding a teenage girl at gunpoint during an attempted abduction.

A 16-year-old girl was walking to Miami Norland Senior High School on Friday at about 8:15 a.m. when she said she was approached by the suspect in the area of NW 7th Avenue and NW 191st Street.

The girl said the suspect walked behind her as she was heading toward the school and placed a firearm against her lower back.

"Get in the car," he told her, according to a police statement.

The girl continued to walk toward the school. Moments later, the suspect approached her in a car, blocking her path, the statement said. He pointed the gun at her again and once again told her to get in the vehicle.

The girl said she then proceeded to walk toward the school and called police.

MGPD described the suspect as a black male aged from 23 to 25 who is about five feet, two inches tall and has a muscular build, as well as a mustache and goatee.

The suspect was wearing a blue V-neck t-shirt, navy blue jeans and black shoes at the time of the incident, police said. He drove an older model silver Infiniti that has peeling mirror tint and chipped paint with blue undercoating.

Anyone with information is urged to call MGPD at 305-474-1648 or Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-474-8477. Tips, which can be left anonymously, may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
