Authorities were investigating after a student fell from the third floor at Miami Beach Senior High School Wednesday.
The 17-year-old female student fell to a walkway and was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center with serious injuries, The Miami Herald reported.
Miami-Dade Public Schools Police said the girl fell during lunchtime. They weren't saying what caused the fall, the Herald reported.
Police said the school was placed on lockdown and students were released in a controlled dismissal.
