Suspect in Deputy-Involved Shooting in Lauderdale Lakes Dies

The suspect injured in a deputy-involved shooting in Lauderdale Lakes on Wednesday has died.

The shooting happened in the 3600 block of Northwest 21st Street, Broward Sheriff's Office officials said.

The man who was shot was taken to a nearby hospital. Family identified him as 42-year-old Jean Pedro Pierre. His family said he was a Haitian entrepreneur.

The deputy involved in the shooting was responding to a call about a disturbance at the address. Officials haven't released any other details on what led to the shooting.

The shooting will be investigated by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, officials said.

The Broward County Sheriff's Office said Pierre was not armed.
