Suspects Caught on Camera Breaking Into Vehicles in Surfside Neighborhood

Police are looking for a trio of suspects who they believe are responsible for the rash of car burglaries in Surfside.

The thieves target unlocked cars, police say. A total of six burglaries have occurred in the recent weeks.

One crime caught on camera happened at around 1:30 a.m. on Aug. 4 in the 9500 block of Bay Drive, according to the Surfside Police Department.

Three male suspects wearing hooded sweatshirts are seen in the surveillance footage walking into the driveway of the victim's home. One suspect approaches the victim’s black, four-door Mercedes CLS 550 and opens the door, which was unlocked. He goes inside and looks through the glove box for several minutes before leaving the car and running off southbound on Bay Drive.

During this time, the other two suspects check the doors of the victim’s blue Hyundai Sonata that was parked next to the Mercedes. When they discover the doors are locked, they walk away.

The victim reported that nothing was missing inside his Mercedes, police said.

Police canvassed the area and are looking for the suspects.
