Longtime Local 10 News anchor and reporter Todd Tongen has died at age 56, WPLG reported.
Tongen's wife was out of town and unable to reach him, and had called a friend to check on him, the station reported. Police later found him, and a cause of death was unknown.
Tongen joined WPLG in December 1989 after working in radio in his native Minnesota and in Colorado. He worked as a weatherman at stations in Colorado and Arkansas before coming to South Florida.
His most recent role at WPLG was as weekend morning co-anchor. He leaves behind a wife and two sons.
