Tropical Storm Chris Moving Over North Atlantic

Storm expected to be post-tropical cyclone on Thursday

Tropical Storm Chris has probably reached its peak intensity in the North Atlantic, according to the National Hurricane Center in Miami.

The storm has maximum sustained winds of nearly 60 mph, and is moving east at 21 mph about 605 miles south-southeast of Cape Race in Newfoundland.

There were no coastal watches or warning in effect.

The storm is expected to turn toward the east-northeast Wednesday night, followed by a turn toward the northesat and north, with a decrease in forward speed Thursday and Thursday night, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Chris is expected to become a post-tropical cyclone on Thursday.
