VP Joe Biden Stumps for US Senate Candidate Murphy in Miami

Vice President Joe Biden says Democrats need to win back the U.S. Senate and end the dysfunction in Congress as he campaigns with candidate Patrick Murphy in South Florida.

The pair stopped Monday afternoon at the Jackson Soul Food restaurant near downtown Miami, where Biden praised Murphy as "the real deal."

"This guy is straight, he is smart, he understands the difference between being authentic and being caustic, he understands the difference between being straight and just being vicious," Biden said.

Biden says he will be campaigning with Democratic Senate candidates across the country. He says he's ashamed of the partisan bickering in the Senate.

Biden and President Barack Obama recently endorsed Murphy for the Senate seat that Sen. Marco Rubio gave up last year when he embarked on his unsuccessful presidential run.

Murphy is a second-term moderate congressman from a district that includes parts of Palm Beach county and areas to the north. Murphy's primary opponent is liberal Rep. Alan Grayson.

Florida's primary will be held Aug. 30.
