Police are investigating after a woman in a wheelchair was found dead outside a Publix in Brickell Friday.
The discovery was made in the area of Southwest 3rd Avenue and 7th Street, Miami Police said.
Officials said the woman was found slouched over her wheelchair unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene. The woman also had a puncture wounds in her chest area from an unknown object, officials said.
Police haven't released the woman's name but said she was in her 50s.
"Right now what we’re looking for are a bit more leads as to what exactly happened here," Miami Police spokeswoman Kiara Delva said. "We do not know if this is suicidal, we do not know if it was accidental. We do not know if there was a motive behind it so we’re reaching out to the community. If you guys know anything, please come forward and provide us with a little more information."
