Woman Shot by Police After Suspected Carjacking, Chase

Authorities say a woman was shot and wounded by police in central Florida after a carjacking and chase.

Orlando Police Chief John Mina told the Orlando Sentinel that a white woman and two black men stole an elderly man's car Friday morning. Officials say they claimed to have a gun, but it wasn't immediately clear whether they were actually armed.

Officers spotted the stolen car several hours later and chased it. The chase ended in a parking lot, and three officers surrounded the stolen vehicle. Mina said the officers felt threatened at some point and opened fire. A woman sitting in the driver's seat was hit in the arm. Her injuries weren't considered life-threatening.

Police haven't named the suspects or the officers. The races of the officers weren't immediately known.
