3 Dead in Blast Near Kabul Airport: Officials

At least three people were killed and at least 20 were injured in an explosion near an airport in Kabul, Afghanistan officials told NBC News. A police source described the blast as a suicide car bomb attack allegedly targeting a joint U.S. and Afghan military convoy traveling to a military base, NBC News reported. At least two military vehicles were damaged in the explosion, a senior security official said, but it was not immediately clear if there were any military casualties. The Afghan Taliban claimed responsibility for the suicide attack and said it had targeted U.S. forces, according to a statement.
