Donald Trump thinks that Ted Cruz’s Canadian birthplace would lead to attacks from Democrats, should Cruz win the Republican presidential nomination.
On Sunday, Trump told a packed ballroom in Nevada that the issue of whether Cruz is a “natural born citizen” despite being born outside the United States is a legal problem and a “cloud” hanging above Cruz’s head, NBC News reported.
Trump compared Cruz’s citizenship conundrum to Hillary Clinton’s emails. He insisted he liked Cruz and that he wasn’t seeking to disqualify Cruz over a technicality.
Cruz told reporters in Iowa on Saturday that he likes and respects Trump. “He’s welcome to toss whatever attack he wants,” Cruz said.
