Ex-TSA Agent Faked Cancer For Time Off, Charged With Theft

A former TSA agent was charged after he faked having cancer to take advantage of more than a year's worth of sick leave donated by federal employees, according to federal court documents. Marc Bess Sr., 42 of Riverdale, Georgia, kept up the scandal for five years. Last year, he continued to submit paperwork from a doctor who had died several months earlier, according to a complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Atlanta. Bess is due in court on May 11 for a plea hearing on charges of embezzlement and theft of public money. Besides the letter from the unidentified doctor who never treated the ex-agent, Bess even scheduled a fake operation to persuade supervisors to give him more time off, according to the complaint.
