Former Rep. Jim Traficant, the nine-time Ohio Congressman who served seven years in prison for bribery, racketeering and tax evasion, died Saturday from injuries he sustained earlier in the week when a tractor flipper over on him at his farm, his lawyer said. He had been at a Youngstown hospital in critical condition since the accident Tuesday, NBC affiliate WFMJ reported. The colorful Democrat was known for ending his speeches on the House floor by saying "Beam me up!'
