Superintendent Among 4 More Charged in Steubenville Case

An Ohio grand jury investigating an alleged cover-up in the Steubenville rape case charged four more people in connection with the case, including the school superintendent and an assistant football coach, NBC News reported. Superintendent Michael McVey was charged with tampering with evidence and obstruction of justice. Volunteer coach Matthew Belardine was charged with allowing underage drinking, obstructing official business and making a false statement. Two other school employees, elementary-school principal Lynette Gorman and strength coach Seth Fluharty, were charged with failure to report child abuse. “What you have is people who were not worried about a victim. They were worried about other things," Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine said in announcing the charges. The investigation stemmed from the sexual assault of a drunken 16-year-old girl by two high school football players in August 2012. Two teens were convicted of rape in March and sentenced to at least a year in juvenile prison.
