With a landmark vote less than two weeks away, the British government said it plans to give Scotland "much greater" financial autonomy in an effort to keep the country in the United Kingdom, NBC News reported. The move comes as polls show those in favor of independence are gaining ground. The Scottish take to the polls on September 18 to decide whether or not they'd like independence from Britain.
