A Chil in the Air: Fins to Interview Childress for O Coordinator

Former Vikings coach to meet with Sparano

Are you feeling the Chil, Miami?

Brad "Chilly" Childress, the controversial former head coach of the Minnesota Vikings, is in the running for the Dolphins offensive coordinator job, the Sun-Sentinel reports.

Childress is expected to meet with head coach Tony Sparano on Saturday.

"I don't have any preconceived notions," Childress told the Minnesota Star Tribune. "If there's a good opportunity there with good people, and that's the key, I'll coach again this year. If not then I'll pass and do something next year."

Childress had a rocky year in Minnesota, dealing with the on-going Brett Favre saga, then trading and cutting Randy Moss in a matter of weeks before getting fired.

It was a swift downfall in the Twin Cities for Childress, who had lead the Vikings to the brink of Super Bowl 44 just 12 months ago.

Childress was the offensive coordinator for the Philadelphia Eagles for several years before getting the head coaching gig in Minnesota, but would Chilly calling the plays get Dolfans excited about next season?

That's doubtful, because Childress or whoever the Dolphins hire will have a huge job ahead of themselves. The Dolphins need an overhaul at quarterback, running back and in the interior of the offensive line. Plus, Miami needs to add a burner on the outside to stretch the field.

That's a lot of needs and so far, there are few candidates to fill them.
