Brandon Marshall Catching a Case of the Ginns

Brandon Marshall needs to make better decisions when it comes to his jersey choice

Brandon Marshall hasn't played a down that matters as a Miami Dolphin and he hasn't tip toed out of bounds or tried to catch a ball with his elbows or shoulder pads instead of his hands, but it's time to go ahead and burn that No. 19 jersey now.

We're talking City of Cleveland-Versus-LeBron James jersey burn, too. Until there is nothing left.

Marshall, who became the new hope for the Dolphins when he signed this offseason, has had a case of the dropsies (or the Ginns as they are known in South Florida) in practice and in the first preseason game.

On Monday, he reportedly became so angry at his inability to hold on to Chad Henne's passes that he booted a ball out of the Davie practice facility.

While that is pretty impressive and a sign of optimism if Coach Tony Sparano wanted to move Marshall to special teams, it should be a bit of a concern for everyone with their eyes on the Dolphins offense.

Marshall dropped two passes in Saturday's preseason game against Tampa Bay and a couple more on Monday in practice.

He has called his play "disappointing."

We're more disappointed in his number choice. So if Marshall wants to fix his hands, he should first look to fix his jersey.

It's widely known that athletes are among the most superstitious people in the world, and nothing screams, "Black cat, walking under a ladder, break a mirror, step on a crack, open an umbrella indoors" like a jersey once worn by Ted Ginn Jr.

Or maybe the Dolphins could take the choice out of Marshall's hands and become the first professional team to ban a number from being worn. Ever.
